Michael "Mike" Hall (1944-2018)

On behalf of the Woodlawn Little League Community we are saddened by the loss of one of our own this past week.  Mike Hall, known by many around the McNaughton Complex as Mr. Hall, spent many of his weekends and weekday nights rooting on his grandchildren in baseball and softball. In addition to being a great spectator, he also helped with many projects over the years. On behalf of the Woodlawn Board of Directors Rest In Peace Mr. Hall.

Obituary for Michael "Mike" Hall

It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Michael (Mike) Hall announces his passing July 6, 2018 at the age of 74. Mike was the son of Edith and Orville Hall, born April 4, 1944 (4/4/44) in Savannah, GA, while his father was stationed there with the army. After duty, Edith and Orville moved back home to Rockhouse, KY, where Mike was raised alongside his siblings and forged his love of history, sports, building, and our mother, Patty.

Mike is well known in the Northern Virginia… area for his work in the construction and commercial real estate development community. Since arriving in the area in 1972, Mike has worked for Bush Construction Corporation, where he participated in building Shirley Duke apartments, The Plaza, Braddock Place, Ballston Place at Lexington Square, 2020 Lofts and many other community complexes. Throughout his career, he was most proud of his work at the Carpenter Shelter in Old Town Alexandria and the Stoddard Baptist Nursing Home in DC, as well as the many concession stands and dugouts at local high schools and little league fields, and the homes of his kids and wife.
Mike was a true servant leader to many in the community. He frequently supported the needs of many individuals and charitable organizations in the Alexandria area, his hometown of Letcher County, and numerous local youth sports organizations.
Mike is survived by his adoring wife of 47 years, Patricia Louise (Louisey) Slone Hall, and two devoted daughters, Renee Hall-Coakley and Michelle Hall, his friends, apprentices and sons in law, William Coakley and Dave Lytkowski, his admiring grandchildren, Christopher Michael Coakley (19), Jacob Coakley (16), Ella Lytkowski (10) and Sarah Lytkowski (8), and his best friend and sister in law, Rendy Slone. Mike is also survived by his three siblings, Fred Hall (Mattie), Gail Hall, and Glenda Rucker (Henry), as well as numerous extended family and friends, including his ever-loving baseball & softball family.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 13, 2018 at 1 PM at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, Virginia 22315, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mount Vernon High School Athletic Boosters, Woodlawn Little League, and ICAN Services, Inc.
